Who should host the Games of 2018?

Over the course of the next four years, the Olympic movement will consider the candidate cities to host the Olympic Winter Games of 2018. On their website, they have gathered links and information about the candidates in the hope that the candidates get ample publicity and that the best candidate wins. At the present time, they have no preference of one host city over another, but as we draw closer to 2011, their site will serve as an informational window to the world  and inform all about who should host the XXIII Olympic Winter Games.

The French Olympic committee will need to choose between three potential candidate cities. Annecy (which has included Grand-Bornand within its bid), had originally intended to bid for the 2014 Winter Olympics, has been joined in the running by Grenoble and Gap.  Annecy does have the advantage of having been through the bid process for 2014, in which it is no longer running. If it turns out that it has some support, it may very well be a strong candidate for 2018, provided France decides to bid. And if Annecy wins the French contest  then we could very well have skiing at the Olympics in 2018 coming from Chinaillon or the Valley De Bouchet!

As of today, Annecy is certainly the French favourite. See their website here linked from the bottom of the 'accommodation' page.
